METALLICA Re-Sign With MERCURY RECORDS!

March 31, 2003

METALLICA have signed a new agreement with Mercury Records for territories outside the United States and Japan.

The new deal includes the band's multi-Grammy-winning back catalogue and comes ahead of the release in June of the band's eighth studio album, "St Anger".

Mercury has been the home for METALLICA these last 15 years outside North America and Japan.

Mercury U.K. joint managing director Greg Castell says: "We are delighted to extend our relationship with METALLICA, the most powerful rock band of a generation. They are one of the few bands who can truly be described as musical pioneers."

"St. Anger" is METALLICA's first studio release since 1997's "Re-Load", which debuted at number one in 12 countries and has sold more than nine million albums worldwide.

METALLICA will kick off a world tour in support of "St. Anger" in early June. The trek will mark the live debut of new bassist Robert Trujillo (ex-OZZY OSBOURNE, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES),who replaced Jason Newsted late last month.
